The Student Cyber Challenge invites six teams of college/university students to compete against each other to develop a solution to a real-world cybersecurity challenge posed to them.

What is the Student Cyber Challenge?

Virginia-based college or university. The challenge is two weeks in duration and will be developed by CTEWorkforce in collaboration with cybersecurity industry leaders to reflect a current cybersecurity pain point or event that has not yet been effectively addressed.
Each team will work collaboratively to develop its own unique solution to the challenge. Once developed the teams will upload their solutions to the secure CTEWorkforce Workforce Innovation Network (WIN) online platform, where it will be reviewed by a panel of industry professionals.
Each team will then have the opportunity to present their solution to the panel. The top three teams (as deemed by the panel) will receive cash awards of $1,250 (1st place), $750 (2nd place), and $250 (3rd place).
The panel of experts will include representatives of local independent innovation labs such as the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs, the Mountain Empire Small Business Development Center, Mach37 Accelerator, the ‘NEST’ (UVA Wise students), the Southwest Virginia Small Business Development Center, and RIoT amongst others.
