CivilianCyber is excited to launch its first Technology Enabled Engagement with Mentoring (TEEM) program for college students of 2023. The TEEM program will provide 20 Virginia-based IT students with immersive, real world work experience combined with mentoring and support from a cybersecurity industry professional. The program will begin January 30th and run for eight weeks.
The TEEM program has been developed in partnership with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) and the Virginia Alliance for Secure Computing and Networking (VASCAN). It was created to help provide students real-world experience along with developing critical thinking and soft skills that aren’t always attained in a classroom environment.
“One of the things that new graduates often lack is the ability to apply the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to a real-world work situation,” says Bobby Keener, CEO of CivilianCyber. “The TEEM program has been designed to allow students to train and offer a solution to a problem while under the guidance of an experienced mentor.”
The program is open to students currently in their sophomore or junior year at an accredited Virginia college or university who possess a minimum GPA of 2.5. Interested students can learn more and apply at https://cteworkforce.com/teem-student. The application deadline is January 15th.
IT and cyber professionals interested in volunteering to serve as a mentor for this or future programs should visit https://cteworkforce.com/teem-mentor.
