Become a TEEM Mentor

In partnership with The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI), CTEWorkforce is proud to offer 25 Virginia college students a spot in our upcoming Technology Enabled Engagement and Mentoring™ program. TEEM is a unique peer-mentoring initiative that pairs college students majoring in cybersecurity and adjacent programs with high school mentees interested in entering this exciting field. This program was developed to support the goal of positioning Virginia as a cybersecurity center of excellence. Your participation as a mentor is an important part of achieving that goal.

Program Overview

This program is scheduled to kick off on October 1st. Each week, your high school student mentee will be completing a high-level online learning module focused on one aspect of cybersecurity as well as associated professional development and soft skills. Your mentee will then schedule an hour-long meeting with you to discuss what they’ve learned.

Your Role as a Mentor

The heart of the program lies in these weekly meetings. The mentees will present their learnings and solicit feedback. These meetings are highly structured and a standardized agenda is used to ensure productivity and engagement. These discussions help mentees gain a deeper understanding of the field and prepare them for their academic and career journeys.

  • Important Classes & Topics for Cybersecurity
  • Tools and Skills in Cybersecurity
  • Career Development / Industry Preparation
  • Generative AI

What You Receive as a Mentor

You’ll gain valuable leadership and mentoring experience, helping shape the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. In addition to this experience, upon successfully completing the program, you will receive a certificate from the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative and CTEWorkforce.

  1. Navigate to cci.yourcareercounselor.com 
  2. If you don’t have an account already, sign up and make one (this will require email verification). 
  3. When you login go to the Dashboard and under the My courses block go to the Available courses tab. 
  4. Select CCI TEEM: Mentor Application
    • Use the Enrollment Key:  TEEM_MENTOR_24! 
  5. Fill out and submit the Questionnaire!
