iDISPLA Launch

Launching today, iDISPLA is collaborative innovation initiative between U.S. Army Night Vision Labs and the Chief Data Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia focused on seeking solutions to real-world problems. Over 40 Universities, multiple U.S. Agencies and other public-private partners are formally engaged.

I hope you will register, submit ideas, and pass along to others in your networks. All of the details are below and in the attached document. Thanks for considering and encouraging participation in this human-centered approach to address challenges our communities and our country face. Your participation will make a difference.

The first step is to learn more and register here: https://www.idispla.org/index.php?d=components&p=idea-zone

Once registered you can submit solutions to multiple challenge areas.

Internet/Broadband Challenge: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual learning and virtual workforce will require access to adequate internet speeds. As part of this challenge take a real speed test.

Thermal Imaging Challenge: This challenge focuses on new uses for thermal imaging that can assist our communities. The top student solution winners will be provided with a thermal imaging camera to help develop their solution.

Rise out of Poverty Challenge: There may be better ways to address poverty across the U.S. and are looking for ideas from citizens themselves that may make an impact on citizens themselves.

Opioid Challenge:  How can we use Opioid related data in new ways to help better anticipate the contributing factors that lead to Opioid addiction?

Your solutions will be evaluated by subject matter experts, and the individuals with the top solution ideas will have the opportunity to brief their concepts to the following leaders:

Carlos Rivero, Chief Data Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia

Dr. Nibir Dhar,  Chief Scientist, Science & Technology, U.S. Army C5ISR Center Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate

Christopher Bourne, Assistant Secretary of Innovation
