CTEWorkforce (CTE) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have partnered to bring the Professional Seminar Series to high school and community college students interested in attending VCU. Through the Convergence Lab Initiative (CLI), a limited number of students who would like to pursue more topics concerning advanced technologies and VCU programs can register for the first activity now. This program is a no-cost, certificate-bearing, professional seminar series in Spring 2025.
This series marks the launch of an exciting program designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in advanced technologies, including Modeling & Simulation, Electro-Optic & Infrared Research, Radio Frequency and Communication Research, and Edge Technologies Research.
“CLI has been developed to facilitate work across subject areas by teaching students how to break down industry silos,” said Nibir K. Dhar, Ph.D., electrical and computer engineering professor and CLI program lead. “What we found in CTE was the perfect partner to help us deliver on this goal via use of their technology, processes, and past successes in the area of experiential learning.”
Funded by a grant from the Department of Defense (DoD), the VCU College of Engineering’s CLI is a cross-disciplinary institute bringing together scientists, engineers, and technicians to solve pressing defense challenges for the United States. CTEWorkforce, a workforce technology company, has partnered with the VCU CLI to provide the CLI Student Engagement Program.
The two-part seminar series is open to high school juniors and seniors, and community college students. Seminars will be held early next year, after the holiday break. In addition to activity and program certificates, students who apply to VCU may also qualify to receive a $100 honorarium.
