Apply to the STEM Engagement Program

Background

CivilianCyber — a leader in cyber workforce development — has partnered with Virginia’s Common-wealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) to establish Virginia as a global leader in cybersecurity research and serve as a catalyst for the Commonwealth’s long-term economic leadership in this sector.

To do this, CCI and CivilianCyber are creating a cybersecurity talent identification and development pipeline to address the growing shortage of trained cybersecurity workers across the Commonwealth.

The Program

STEP, or the STEM Training Engagement Program, provides a six-month cybersecurity internship and fully-paid, accredited training to a group of deserving candidates that demonstrate cybersecurity career aptitude. Prior experience in cybersecurity is not required. Candidates will be assessed through the CivilianCyber AWSAM™ platform (Automated Workforce Smart Assessment & Matching). Selected candidates will be placed in an internship with a local company while also receiving online training in a cybersecurity certification program via an institution recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by both the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The six-month program will cover topics such as Laws and Ethics, Foundations of Cybersecurity, Data and Web Security, Network Security, Penetration Testing and Incident Handling, and Cyber Defense.

How to Apply

STEP is scheduled to kick-off in February of 2021. Interested persons should visit www.civiliancyber.com/programs and complete the form to apply online or email a copy of a recent resume along with a letter explaining why they would be an ideal candidate to [email protected].
